V

picked up these babies for only 500 kr (reduced from 2999 kr) at the V ave shoe repair clearance on sunday <3. they will most probably not be seeing the light of day in sweden, but will definitely be my go-to party shoe when i'm back in aus in jan.

the great escape

Bad day, looking for a way,
home, looking for the great escape.
Gets in his car and drives away,
far from all the things that we are.
Puts on a smile and breathes it in
and breathes it out, he says,
bye bye bye to all of the noise.
Oh, he says, bye bye bye to all of the noise.

Doo doo doo doo doo noo noo
Doo doo doo doo doo noo noo noo noo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo noo noo noo

Hey child, things are looking down.
That’s okay, you don’t need to win anyways.
Don’t be afraid, just eat up all the gray
and it will fade all away.
Don’t let yourself fall down.

Doo doo doo doo doo noo noo
Doo doo doo doo doo noo noo noo noo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo noo noo noo

Bad day, looking for the great escape.
He says, bad day, looking for the great escape.
On a bad day, looking for the great escape,
the great escape.

winter blues

in my favourite sweater from whyred and an old denim shirt.

have you got the winter blues? what are your remedies? i'm actually feeling pretty good this winter as its been surprisingly warm in stockholm for this time of the year. BUT my remedies are: copious amounts of coffee, big oversized knits, new murakami (1Q84), weekends at my favourite galleries/museums. feeling a lack of creativity at the moment however, and its bringing me down. can't wait til berlin on friday

i år

ph: ina nederdal, edited by me

this year has gone so slowly and i have often felt quite ambivalent about what i am doing - moving to stockholm (for the second time) to be with my love. i am normally a person that likes to do a million things ie study hard, work hard, party hard etc. but this year has been completely different and i havent done either of the usual things. i think i initially felt this huge void, but have now realised that this year i have accomplished alot more things for myself than i would have otherwise had time for. i've gotten to know stockholm better, i've improved my swedish, i've started photographing, picked up my paint brushes and canvases, read a lot of amazing books, up-kept (albeit, half-heartedly) this little blog, got engaged to my beautiful swedish love, improved my cooking skills, started to run (i have always been ridiculously unfit cardio-wise). i know that i would not have done such enjoyable things if i had been consumed with an influx of uni work//part-time work and social commitments. that being said, i am ready to go back to my old life in aus, to the country i love and my amazing friends and family.

what are you proud of this year?

been playing around with my new camera! my life has been pretty boring as of late but i can't wait to take more pics. it's finally winter here in stockholm, as it should be and its finally winter-cold but there's no snow, green everywhere and the birds are still here. i guess i shouldn't be complaining. it's just kind of strange for sweden this time of the year. in two months i will be back in ridiculously hot australian summer, lying on a beach, drinking gin and tonics and running around in a minimal amount of clothing with all my ladies. in some ways i can't wait but in others i am a little anxious about all the change again.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said: “Man.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

ciara

some pics i took of the lovely ciara when she came to visit me in sthlm a few weeks ago

fall faves

1. creepers from modekungen
2. candle from diptyque
3. coat from hope
4. dress from nowhere

i have my eye on these goodies right now. definitely considering the creepers...they would fit perfectly into my wardrobe and perfect all year round (except swedish winter).

love your bones

pics by me:
1. my love 2. engagement bracelet

i know i am a really lousy blogger...but i got engaged last week! instead of the usual 'solitaire ring' i received an amazingly beautiful bracelet by new swedish designer maria nilsdotter. absolutely in love with it. the bad thing is that i have the tendency to lose everything from my tiny wrists (including three watches and some of my favourite bracelets).

but anyway, i have a million and one things to think about/figure out. moving back to australia next year to do postgrad in psychology/getting married next year/need to keep working on my swedish/cant wait to finally get my new dslr so i can photograph more/must paint more/going to berlin for my birthday!!!!!!!!!!

TEEN SPIRIT

Interview Magazine March 2010, Teen Spirit.
By Karl Templer Photography Craig Mcdean

Teen Spirit…A new mood is in the air–one less rushed but also less considered it’s not about being sexy. It’s not about being androgynous. It’s about dressing with a certain youthful ease and a louche sensuality–and having the confidence to just be.
